The Best Organic Version of Your Favorite Comfort Food
Eating organic has become a very popular choice. People are more conscious of what is being put into their food and into their bodies. Demand for organic food is increasing and food suppliers are responding with more organic options. Replacing your fruits and vegetables with their organic version is a simple switch, but what about your tasty comfort foods or frozen treats? We’ve found the best organic replacements for your favorite foods:
1. Oreo’s
We like Paul Newman’s “Newman O’s” better than oreo’s. The original flavor is great, but our favorite is the peanut butter creamed filled flavor. They don’t have high fructose corn syrup like Oreo’s and are lower in fat. These cookies are only a dollar more than Oreos at around $4.79 for one package and Newmans donates it’s profits to charity.
Our vote goes to Amy’s frozen pizza. With around 20 varieties to chose from you are sure to find a flavor you will enjoy. Our favorite is the Pesto pizza. The vegetables on these pizzas don’t get soggy like most frozen pizza brands.
3. Coffee
The most chemically treated food in the world is coffee. If you drink it daily, it’s a great idea to switch to organic. We recommend Green Mountain Coffee Fair Trade Organic House Blend. Don’t forget to use organic creamer and sugar. We like Organic Valley Half and Half and Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Turbinado Raw Cane Sugar.
4. Mac n Cheese
Amy’s wins again for the best organic macaroni and cheese. The Rice Mac & Cheese version was our favorite. We found the cheese sauce to be much creamier than Annie’s Mac & Cheese, another popular alternative for this comfort food.
5. Ice Cream
Stonyfield makes the best organic ice cream and frozen yogurt. While the frozen yogurt didn’t hit the spot for us, their premium ice cream is super creamy and delicious.
6. Chips
Late July Dude Ranch Snack Chips are amazingly good. Not only are they organic, but they are lower in fat and calories than regular chips. The price is also right. We picked some up on sale for $2.00 a bag.
7. Ritz Crackers and Peanut Butter
Late July makes also makes a great peanut butter sandwich cracker. The crackers are just as buttery as the popular Ritz crackers and the peanut butter is amazingly creamy.
8. Milk
We think that Organic Valley milk is the best tasting organic milk on the market.
