It’s Chili Weather
Sunday, January 25th, 2009For most of the Northern states in the U.S.A., they are experiencing snow, ice and frigid temperatures. Even some of the southern states are getting chilly as well. These chilly temperatures make it the perfect time to have chili!
Chili is one of most adaptable meals. Traditional chili has ground beef, beans and tomatoes in it. But there are many adaptations. Vegetarians will appreciate a vegetarian chili. There are also spicy chilies for those liking something with an extra “bite.” Your chili is the perfect one-pot meal for the entire family. Chili can serve a big or a small crowd so easily. It sticks to your ribs and fills you up.
Chili also makes a great side dish. Try having a bit of spicy vegetarian chili with another vegetarian main dish. Or try chili with baked chicken.
The tip to adding “heat” (spice) to your chili is to start with a little bit. As your chili cooks and actually simply sits, the heat will build. That small amount you add with literally seem to double and triple – it will amaze you.
Chili is a great choice as we face February’s chilly month ahead. Spring is certainly coming, but we do want to stay warm in the meantime.
