Mushrooms in Cream Sauce Recipe

An almost sinful tasting recipe. This makes a great addition to your favorite pasta

Ingredients

  • 2 lb fresh Mushrooms
  • 1/4 c Butter or margarine
  • 1 c White wine
  • 1/4 ts Pepper
  • Pinch of Nutmeg
  • 1 c Cream; heavy
  • 2 sprigs Parsley
  • 1/4 lb Bacon; diced
  • 2 large Onions, diced
  • 1/2 ts Salt
  • 1/4 ts Paprika
  • Pinch of Mace
  • Lemon juice from 1/2 med lemon

Directions

  1. Clean mushrooms and slice in half if large and pat dry
  2. Fry bacon in a large pan until lightly browned, remove from pan and reserve
  3. Add the butter to the pan drippings, then add onions; saute until lightly browned
  4. Add mushrooms; cook until tender, stirring often
  5. Stir in wine, salt, pepper, paprika, nutmeg, and mace
  6. Cover frypan and cook over low heat 15 minutes
  7. Off the heat, add the cooked bacon, cream and lemon juice
  8. Reheat until just warm
  9. Do not let the mixture boil!!! Garnish with parsley and serve with noodles or dumplings.
