Corn Bread Recipe

Simple to make cornbread. This goes great with a piping hot bowl of chili

Ingredients

  • 1 C all-purpose flour
  • 1 C yellow cornmeal
  • 1/4 C sugar
  • 4 t baking powder
  • 3/4 t salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 C milk
  • 1/4 C shortening

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  2. Add eggs, milk and shortening; beat for 1 minute.
  3. Pour into a greased 9 in. square baking pan. Bake at 425 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until bread tests done. Makes 9 servings.
