Chinese Sausage Bits Recipe

These Asian-inspired sausage meatballs make a hearty appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound bulk pork sausage
  • 1 slightly beaten egg
  • 1/2 cup bread cubes
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup chili sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

Directions

  1. In a bowl, combine sausage, egg and bread cubes. Use a teaspoon to form small balls. Melt butter in frying pan. Cook balls evenly until brown; drain on paper towels. In a saucepan, mix remaining ingredients. Cook slowly for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Place balls in a chafing dish; cover with sauce. Serve with wooden picks.
  3. Yields 20 to 25 appetizers.
