Fried Okra Recipe

Definitely an acquired taste, I acquired the taste for fried okra about 10 years ago. It must be crunchy to be good in my opinion, and dipping fried okra in bleu cheese dressing is delicious

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. cornmeal
  • 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 4 c. tender okra
  • Bacon drippings

Directions

  1. Combine dry ingredients in a paper or plastic bag and mix well.
  2. Rinse okra and cut into 3/4 inch slices. Shake in a bag to coat with dry ingredients.
  3. Heat drippings in skillet and fry okra turning often until browned. Makes about 6 servings.
