Sauerbraten Meatballs Recipe

Ingredients
- Sauerbraten Sauce
- 1 medium onion, grated
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 cup gingersnaps, crushed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 2 bay leaves
- 6 whole peppercorns
Directions
- Sauté onion in butter until slightly browned. Add remaining ingredients and boil until slightly thickened. Strain and pour over meatballs in chafing dish. The sauce should be thick, but you may add a little water if a thinner sauce is desired.
