You can serve Butter Dips as an appetizer or a side dish.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter (for baking pan)
  • 2 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup milk

Directions

  1. Melt butter in oven in 1 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Remove pan from oven when butter is melted.
  2. Sift dry ingredients into a bowl. Add milk. Stir slowly with a fork until dough just clings together. Turn out onto a well-floured board. Knead lightly about 10 times. Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness in a 12 x 8-inch rectangle. Cut in half lengthwise, then crosswise into 16 strips. Dip each strip on both sides in melted butter. Place close together in two rows. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 450 degrees F. Serve hot.
  3. Makes 32 strips.
