Gianni’s Own Spaghetti Sauce Recipe
A spicy, yet mellow pasta sauce with meat.

Ingredients
- 1 15-oz can tomato sauce
- 1 15-oz can Contadina tomato sauce with Italian herbs and spices
- 1 medium sweet onion, diced
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
- 1/2 cup chopped parsley
- 5 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
- 3/4 lb 80% lean ground chuck
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1/2 tsp fennel seed
Directions
- Saute onions in pre-heated olive oil until transparent. Add garlic and sauté another 3 minutes.
- Add ground beef, half of the basil and half of the parsely, the pepper and brown, stirring so that herbs, pepper, onions, garlic and beef are well mixed.
- Pour in both cans of tomato sauce, rest of parsley and basil and the fennel seed.
- Raise heat to medium until mixture begins to bubble. Reduce heat to low and cover.
- Simmer for one hour.
