Mushrooms In Cream Sauce Recipe

Mushrooms in a cream sauce are oh so excellent

Ingredients

  • 2 lb Fresh Mushrooms
  • 1/4 lb Bacon; Diced
  • 1/4 c Butter Or Margarine
  • 2 Large Onions, Diced
  • 1 c White Wine
  • 1/2 t Salt
  • 1/4 t Pepper
  • 1/4 t Paprika
  • Pinch Nutmeg
  • Pinch Mace
  • 1 c Cream; Heavy
  • Lemon Juice equivalent to 1/2 medium Lemon
  • 2 Parsley Sprigs

Directions

  1. Clean mushrooms and slice in half if large then pat dry
  2. Fry bacon in a large pan until lightly browned, remove and reserve bacon
  3. Add the butter to the pan drippings then add onions; saute until lightly browned
  4. Add mushrooms; cook until tender, stirring often
  5. Stir in wine, salt, pepper, paprika, nutmeg, and mace
  6. Cover frypan and cook over low heat 15 minutes
  7. Remove from heat and add the cooked bacon, cream and lemon juice
  8. Reheat until just warm (do not let boil), garnish with arsley and serve with noodles or dumplings.
