Italian Beef Skillet Recipe

Very easy but real good

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. beef round steak
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 2 c. sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up
  • 1/2 tsp. dried basil, crushed
  • 1/4 tsp. dried oregano, crushed
  • 1/8 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. Trim fat from round steak. Cut the meat into serving pieces. Spray a skillet with nonstick spray. Brown meat over heat on both sides. Remove from skillet.
  2. Add vegetables and cook till almost tender, then add undrained tomatoes, basil, oregano, and red pepper.
  3. Add meat to skillet, spooning vegetables mixture over the meat.
  4. Cover and simmer about 1 1/4 hours or until meat is tender, stirring occasionally.
  5. Transfer meat to serving platter. Spoon vegetable mixture over meat and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  6. Serves 5.
