Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cake Recipe

Melts in your mouth.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 Cup Boiling Water
  • 1 Cup Uncooked Oatmeal (quick or old fashioned kind)
  • 1 cup lightly packed Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) Margarine
  • 2 extra Large Eggs
  • 1 3/4 cup Unsifted Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Soda
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Cocoa
  • 1 package Milk Chocolate Chips
  • 3/4 cup chopped Walnuts

Directions

  1. Pour boiling water over oatmeal. Let stand at room temperature 10 minutes.
  2. Add brown sugar, white sugar, and magarine. Stir until margarine melts.
  3. Add eggs. Mix well. Shift together flour, soda, salt and cocoa. Add to mixture and mix well.
  4. Add 1/2 package chocolate chips.
  5. Pour batter into greased and floured pan (9X13). Sprinkle with walnuts and remaining chocolate chips.
  6. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees about 40 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
  7. Cake is so rich it requires no frosting.
