Breakfast Casserole Recipe

Another breakfast casserole. According to my mom, the roots of this recipe lie somewhere in the Pennsylvania Dutch land... possibly Hanover. We've taken to using spicy sausage to add a little kick to this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 6 Large eggs
  • 1 ts Salt
  • 2 Slices white bread, cubed
  • 1 c Sharp/mild cheddar, shredded
  • 2 c Milk
  • 1 ts Dry mustard
  • 1 lb Sausage browned

Directions

  1. Beat eggs, add milk, salt and mustard, mixing well
  2. Grease bottom of 9 x 13 baking dish
  3. Place in layer of bread cubes, the sausage, then cheese
  4. Pour egg mixture over the top
  5. Refrigerate overnight
  6. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes
  7. Let stand about 5 minutes before cutting and serving
