Corn Dog Recipe

Our daughters are both corn dog fans. They love the corn dogs we make with this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c Yellow corn meal
  • 1/2 c Flour
  • 1 ts Dry mustard
  • 1/2 ts Salt
  • 1 Egg, lightly beaten
  • 6 Skewers or sticks
  • 6 Frankfurters
  • 1 tb Sugar
  • 1 ts Baking powder
  • 1/2 c Milk
  • 1 tb Melted shortening

Directions

  1. Combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, mustard, baking powder and salt, mixing well
  2. Add the milk, egg and shortening, mixing until very smooth
  3. Pour the mixture into a tall glass
  4. Put the frankfurters on sticks
  5. Dip them into the cornmeal batter to coat them evenly
  6. Deep fry in oil heated to 375 degrees until golden brown, about two minutes
  7. Drain on paper towels.
